Keeping in theme with the fireplace discussion earlier this week, this idea has been weighing on our minds lately.
Browsing Houzz, I came across this picture and was in awe. It’s out of the ordinary, but I love the look, opening up the room with windows.
Of course, we won’t have that same scenario with our design, nor will we have a curtain wall of windows. But this sparked an interest in exposing the chimney stack.
This look mimics the appearance of a freestanding wood burning stove. In addition to its unique rustic visual interest, the exposed stack radiates the heat of the fire into the room.
I am also very drawn to the steel-facade look.
Keep in mind, ours will be a corner fireplace. Now the big question is color/material selection.
Good, bad or indifferent? If you like it, vote on the color/material!
From the options above – which do you prefer? (1) stainless steel pipe (2) black pipe (3) patina steel encasement (4) black steel encasement?
